OROP tables — which one is yours, and how to read it

First: which table covers you?

The 121 tables are split by type of pension and category of personnel. Per the MoD letter of 20.01.2023 (the structure is the same family in OROP-3), the tables cover: retiring / service / special / disability / invalid / liberalized disability / war injury pension — including the disability and war-injury elements — and ordinary / special / liberalized family pension; separately for commissioned officers, honorary commissioned officers, JCOs/ORs and non-combatants (enrolled) of Army, Navy, Air Force, Defence Security Corps and Territorial Army. So before hunting numbers, fix three facts from your PPO:

1. Which pension you draw — service pension? disability element? ordinary family pension? Each has its own tables.
2. Rank pensioned in — and for JCOs/ORs, the group (X/Y). Officers' tables are split by cadre too (e.g. Table 26 of the corrected set is ordinary family pension for EC/SSC officers of AMC/ADC/RVC and equivalent Navy/Air Force ranks).
3. Qualifying service — as in your PPO, not from memory. Tables run in half-year steps, and revision is done against actual qualifying service subject to the maximum term of engagement.

Reading a table — a real example

From the corrected Table 26 (re-issued 13.10.2025): rows are qualifying service, columns are ranks (2Lt/Lt · Capt · Major · Lt Col). For a Lt Col-equivalent family pension at qualifying service 13, the cell reads ₹52,212; at 13.5 it is ₹53,019; from 14 upwards the column settles at ₹53,826. Whatever the cell says, that becomes the revised basic family pension from 01.07.2024 — Dearness Relief is then added on top, and if the pension already drawn is higher, it stays (protection).

Why so many rows repeat the same figure

Not a misprint. PCDA's OROP circular explains it in one paragraph: where the averaged rate for a higher qualifying service came out lower than for a lower qualifying service — or the data was blank — the higher rate is protected downward/upward, "due to this many rates in same column appears equal"; the same protection runs across adjacent ranks. Equal cells are the protection rule working, not the table failing.

The October 2025 corrections — check your download's date

• Table 14: rates in one column were shifted by one qualifying-service step (rates shown against 0.5–32 years actually belonged to 1.5–33 years).
• Table 26: the Lt Col rate for 33 years & above was missing.
• Tables 48, 59, 94: rates had been printed beyond the maximum term of engagement for Sepoy up to Subedar and equivalent ranks.

All five stand re-issued with the DESW letter of 13.10.2025. If a PDF on your phone predates that, those five tables in it are the wrong version.

The trap to avoid

"OROP table" is one of the most-searched pension phrases, so WhatsApp and content-mill sites overflow with retyped, cropped and outright invented tables — some still carrying the pre-correction figures, some carrying numbers from no order at all. The safe habit is boring: download from desw.gov.in, check the table number and the letter date, and match your own row against your PPO. And nobody — agent, "consultant", or website — can change what the table says.

Where do I download the official OROP tables?

From desw.gov.in → Circulars → Pension Circulars: the 121 tables of the DESW OM dated 04.09.2024, plus the corrected Tables 11, 26, 48, 59 and 94 re-issued with the letter of 13.10.2025. Only from there.

How do I read an OROP table?

Fix your pension type, rank (and group for JCOs/ORs) and qualifying service from your PPO; find the table for that pension type and category; read down to your qualifying service and across to your rank. That cell is the revised basic pension from 01.07.2024 — DR adds on top, and a higher existing pension is protected.

Why do several rows show the same amount?

Because of the protection rule: where a higher qualifying service produced a lower average — or data was blank — the higher rate of the lower qualifying service is protected, making many cells in a column equal. It is by design.

Which tables were revised in 2025?

Tables 11, 26, 48, 59 and 94, re-issued on 13 October 2025 for typographical and formatting errors. Re-download those five if your copy is older.

Do I need to apply to get the table rate?

No — pension disbursing agencies revise table-based cases without any application. If yours has not appeared, take the PPO to the bank's pension cell or raise it on SPARSH.
