How to download your PPO from SPARSH

Log in at sparsh.defencepension.gov.in and open My Documents > PPO — view it, download it, keep a copy. That is the whole official path. What the user ID is, and what to do when the PPO itself has a problem, is below.
The Pension Payment Order is the single most important pension document there is — the sanction that records what pension, which elements and which family entitlements are yours. Every later task asks for it: the SPARSH login itself is built on its number, family pension claims quote it, banks ask for it. What each part of the PPO means is a separate page — this one is only about getting the document out of SPARSH.
Every step comes from the official SPARSH FAQ; we have not invented any screen. If a menu name looks slightly different on the day you try, use the nearest match and tell us.
-
Open the official portal
Type sparsh.defencepension.gov.in yourself and check the address — there is exactly one official site.
-
Log in — user ID is your PPO number plus a suffix
Pensioner yourself: PPO number + 01 (the FAQ's own example: PPO 111111111 → user ID 11111111101). Family pensioner: suffix 02, 03, 04… as per your serial number in the PPO. Never received a password? Enter the user ID, click Forgot Password at the bottom of the login window, and one is sent to your registered mobile/email — log in and change it. The full login detail, including what to do when the SMS never comes, is in the pension-slip guide.
-
My Documents → PPO
After login, open My Documents > PPO and download the PDF. While you are there, two neighbouring entries are worth saving too:
- My Documents > Entitlements — basic pension, disability element, gratuity and other sanctioned amounts
- My Documents > Pension Slip — the monthly payment record (step-by-step guide)
-
Save it properly
One copy on the phone, one printout in the family's pension file — and make sure your family knows where it is. In a family-pension claim, the PPO number is the first thing asked; the worst time to hunt for it is the worst week of a family's life.
-
Can't do it online? Service Centre, free of charge
All SPARSH services are also available at Service Centres without any charges, per the official FAQ. Find one via Contact & Support > SPARSH Near You > Service Center Locator on the portal; carry your registered mobile for OTP verification. Hours: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
When the PPO itself has a problem
Downloading is the easy half. These are the official in-portal routes when what you download is wrong — each path is quoted from the FAQ:
- An element you are entitled to is not in the PPO (and is not being paid) — Grievances > Payment Related > Elements Not Sanctioned in Pension.
- You are being paid less than the PPO sanctions — Grievances > Payment Related > Elements of Pension.
- The recovery amount displayed in the PPO is wrong — Grievances > Payment Related > Deduction.
- Not sure what the sanctioned amounts should come to? Check against the rules first: Service Pension Calculator · Disability Pension Calculator · Family Pension Calculator.
Questions and answers
Where is the PPO in SPARSH?
Log in at sparsh.defencepension.gov.in and go to My Documents > PPO — you can view and download it there. The sanctioned amounts behind it are at My Documents > Entitlements. This is the path given in the official SPARSH FAQ.
I don't know my PPO number — can I still log in?
The SPARSH user ID is built from the PPO number, so you need it first. Look for it on your existing pension papers — the original PPO copy, bank pension records or earlier correspondence from the pension office. If it cannot be found, contact your Record Office or a SPARSH Service Centre with your service particulars; this site cannot look it up for you.
My PPO is missing an element I am entitled to. What is the official route?
Log in to SPARSH and go to Grievances > Payment Related > Elements Not Sanctioned in Pension. That is the exact path the official SPARSH FAQ gives for elements that should be in the PPO but are not.
The recovery amount shown in my PPO is wrong. Where do I complain?
Per the official SPARSH FAQ, raise it at Grievances > Payment Related > Deduction after logging in to your SPARSH account.
Is the downloaded PPO PDF valid, or do I need the old paper booklet?
The PPO in your SPARSH account is the record the pension system itself works from — that is where the portal directs pensioners to access it. Keep a downloaded copy and a printout in your pension file; if any office insists on other formalities, that office's requirement governs.
Where this information comes from
- SPARSH: FAQs (official PDF) — the My Documents > PPO path (Q.4), user ID rule and example (Q.3), Service Centre locator and no-charge assurance (Q.2), and the grievance paths for missing elements, short payment and wrong recovery (Q.31, 32, 34). A copy is archived with us in case the link moves.
- sparsh.defencepension.gov.in — the one official defence pension portal.
- Steps are quoted from the official FAQ, not from a walkthrough of a live account; menu names can shift between portal updates — the last-checked date is at the top.
